A song I can’t stop listening to:
As I went to flick through my sketchbook to see what I drew in March I was surprised to see such an absence of pages. I finished one page that I’d longed to return to, and then filled one with teapots and that was it!
I’m surprised because I feel like I’ve spent a lot of time drawing in March. I’ve been making space for drawing almost every morning, getting out of bed earlier (I’m a night owl so this is a big feat for me!) so that I can spend that first hour sat with a cup of tea drawing outside before all the tasks of the day unravel and fill the time. It was this month I realised drawing had to sit at the top of my priorities if I was ever going to get any done. So what have I been drawing? Well there’s a couple of pieces that probably would’ve been sketchbook pages but I wanted to work on my usual favourite paper: A4 Bristol board, its so dreamy to draw on with fineliner pens and the ink just sits so deliciously on it.
Then I’ve been obsessively drawing patterns, as this pattern book idea is sticking and it’s my goal this year to draw as many as the pages as I can even though I don’t currently know what their final destination looks like:

I worked on a new map drawing. I’ve been thinking how cool it would be to draw every single country, and then have a big world map document on photoshop which I can slowly add each one too. Here’s the one of Spain I finished this month which is available in my print shop:
And finally, I’ve been playing with some vegetable drawings that I’d love to add to my t-shirt shop but I’m struggling to be happy with the layout, the drawings are cute though :-)
So drawing has definitely been happening, but I’d love to spend more April mornings with some sketchbook pages. Spring is such a busy time of year for us here on the land. The garden needs a lot of attention and its the perfect time to be working outside on all our projects, so I’m really glad I’ve made the time to draw, as without those morning moments there’d be nothing to share with you here today. I hope you’re making/finding time to do the thing you love! Even if it’s 10 minutes each morning or a quick snippet before bed.
Happy spring (or autumn you’re on the other side), and thanks for taking a moment to flick through my sketchbook/drawing pages, I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing what’s emerged.
Until next month!
Carissa

I love the idea of spending an hour every morning drawing!
